Invited guests are welcomed and encouraged to enjoy The Apawamis Club. The spirit of hospitality runs deep at Apawamis, and delighting guests is a cornerstone of our culture. As a private club, the facilities' use is exclusive to members. However, invited and sponsored guests are welcomed to enjoy and appreciate the club's amenities and services.

Invited and sponsored guests may enjoy a range of adult and youth sporting activities, recreational pursuits, and culinary delights. The Club is also a gathering place for the most elegant affairs, weddings and special moments celebrated by our members and invited guests. Our staff can help you coordinate all the details, no matter how small or big the event is.

Before arriving, it is recommended that all guests acquaint themselves with our customs and traditions listed below.
  • Hours of Operation
    • Clubhouse Dining
      Monday–Tuesday: Closed
      Wednesday–Saturday Lunch: 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
      Wednesday–Saturday Dinner: 5:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
      Sunday Brunch: 11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
      Sunday Dinner: 5:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
  • Dress Code
    • Clubhouse and Social Event Dining Dress Code:
      • Casual attire acceptable at all times and in all dining rooms and bar areas.
      • Men’s/boys’ shirts must have a collar and must be worn inside trousers (tucked in).
      • Shorts must be Bermuda-length.
      • Neat denim permitted. Denim may not have tears, fringed bottoms, discoloration/bleached-out, etc.
      • Cutoffs, sweatpants and yoga pants are not permitted.
      • Caps, hats and visors are prohibited at all times.
      • Tennis whites are not permitted after 6:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse.
      • Bathing suits should not be worn outside the pool area. Shirts are required outside the pool area.

      Golf Dress Code:
      • Only golf or tennis shoes are permitted. No metal spikes allowed.
      • For men, shirts must have sleeves and a collar. The shirt must be worn inside the trousers.
      • Ladies’ shirts may be sleeveless and/or collarless. Shirts may be worn tucked in or worn outside as long as they have a finished hem.
      • At no time may tops that show the midriff be worn.
      • No tee shirts, tank tops, or halter tops are permitted. 
      • Men’s shorts may be Bermuda-length only.
      • Ladies’ shorts and skirts/skorts should be of an appropriate conservative length (no more than 4” above the knee).
      • Cutoffs, blue jeans, cargo pants, cargo shorts, short shorts, and yoga pants are prohibited.
      • Caps must be worn with the bill forward at all times. Men should remove caps and hats when inside the Clubhouse.

      Racquet Sports Dress Code:
      Appropriate attire is required by anyone using the squash, tennis, and paddle tennis courts. White tennis attire (which may have trim of different color) is mandatory on the tennis courts. Only smooth-soled, non-marking athletic shoes may be worn on the tennis courts and squash courts.
  • Cell Phone and Wireless Devices
    • The Club maintains a strict “no talking” cell phone policy; phone calls may only be made in your vehicle in the parking lot, in Clubhouse phone booths, in locker rooms or using Club-provided landlines. Cell phones may not be used on the golf course.

      Medical doctors are permitted to use cellular phones at all times and in all locations for medical emergencies.

      Silent use (texting, emailing, reading, showing and taking of photos, and other silent uses) of cellular phones and hand-held wireless devices, including smartphones and tablets, on Club property is allowed, except on the golf course. Device ringers and alerts are to be in silent mode at all times. Any use in the dining rooms and bar areas is to be limited and discreet.

    • Navigation or GPS Systems

      Please use Club and Highland Roads as cross streets as most systems are not aware that Club Road is closed to through traffic at Locust.


      Take Exit 25 (North St.) toward Harrison. Bear Right at end of ramp.
      Proceed up hill to first traffic light at Polly Park Road, turn left.
      Proceed 2-3 miles to stop light at Purchase Street (Rte. 120), turn right.
      Proceed straight through traffic light (where Rte. 120 turns left) on Highland Avenue.
      1.7 miles to stop sign. Continue straight (Club Road) into Club. Entrance is around the bend on your right.


      Merritt Parkway from Connecticut
      South on the Merritt Parkway to Purchase Street Exit.
      Turn left and continue through traffic light.
      Cross over the bridge to the next light and make a left.
      Bear right onto Route 120 South-Rye (Purchase Street)
      Go through two traffic lights(name changes to Highland Road).
      Continue to stop sign, go straight onto Club Road. The entrance to Apawamis is around the bend on your right. 


      Tappan Zee Bridge
      To I-287 (Cross Westchester Expressway East)
      To Exit 10. Move to right lane IMMEDIATELY after exiting. Follow NY 120-Rye (Purchase Street) approx. 1 mile to blinker (where Route 120 turns left).
      Proceed straight on Highland Avenue to stop sign. 
      Continue straight (Club Road) into club. 


      I-95 (New England Thruway Northbound)
      To Exit 20 “Rye Only”. At the end of the ramp, turn
      Right onto Boston Post Road
      At second traffic light turn right onto Purdy Avenue
      At first light, turn right onto Purchase Street
      Go under overpass to light, turn left onto Highland Road.
      Take second left (Club Road) into Club. Entrance to Apawamis is around the bend on your right. 


      I-95 (New England Thruway Southbound)
      To Exit 21 (Rye-Port Chester, I-287 West).
      Immediately take Rye exit, then turn left onto Midland Avenue
      Take first right at traffic light onto Peck Avenue
      Proceed 0.2 miles, then bear right onto Station Plaza.
      Proceed thru station area to Route 120 (Purchase Street), turn right.
      Proceed under overpass to light. Turn left onto Highland Avenue. Take the second left onto Club Road. 
      Entrance to Apawamis is around the bend on your right.
